Organization Background, Capacity Assessment:
Background of Formation of ASAD:
During the period of 1977, famine, poverty, unemployment, lack of opportunities to fulfill the basic needs of the people, lack of good governance, lack of political stability continued in Sri Lanka as a result of political policies and activities.
Especially multiracial people, in order to carry out their daily tasks, give and take, and in industrial developments such as agriculture, the necessity to know national languages has increased. Demands were made regarding the rights of land and that operations should be carried out in respective languages in respective territories. The troublemakers used this to promote doubts and confusion among the people of different races. Even in areas where different races lived together in harmony, the rioters created a state of conflict with contradictions. Frustrated in various ways, the younger community rose up for a solution. It turned into riots.
Beginning of ASAD Association:
In the period after 1980- 1982 ethnical conflict, lack of living income, hunger and poverty in the country continued. Inter-ethnic conflicts, looting, looting, armed conflicts, human trafficking, and rebellions ensued. It led to the killing of many, including young men and women.
In this context, in 1984, when his attempt to join a youth organization to engage in social service failed, the youth M.S.M Sadique took four friends and established a group. The group gained popularity within a short span of time. Through this, small-scale industries were started with the support of government departments. Also, the group took efforts to promote unity and livelihood among the people of the region.
